Identifying Risk
The infrastructures of many utility providers have become the target of metal thieves due to the high value of metals such as copper and lead. On your behalf we will carry out a comprehensive review of your historic crime data, providing a rich intelligence profile that can help to identify existing and emerging crime hotspots, patterns and trends. We can also perform on-the-ground risk assessments to identify other vulnerabilities. Taking this intelligence-led approach means that you can better plan your security buying and concentrate resources where they are needed the most.
Products that Detect and Deter
We have at our disposal a range of products to help you either prevent criminal attacks, or catch those responsible – whether that be our proprietary traceable liquids, covert cameras or something else. The use of SmartWater is increasingly prolific within the sector and is being successfully used to protect all kinds of assets/locations, such as communication cable, earthing straps, tools & plant, vans, generators and substations, to name but a few.
Targeting Receivers
Once vulnerable points are identified and agreed, SmartWater will then deploy strategically placed covert technical equipment, including HD wildlife cameras and ‘transferable’ SmartWater grease, forensically marking offenders on contact, all of which are to help with the evidence gathering for identification and conviction. The cameras are stored, maintained and deployed by SmartWater. Once activated by movement, these cameras instantly send high-quality images, via email, to a central location for immediate assessment and analysis; each image is like a 999 call. The cameras also collect video footage for additional evidence when required.

Targeting Receivers
To disrupt criminal behaviour and make it difficult for thieves to sell on stolen goods, SmartWater Investigators frequently visit scrap yards in partnership with the police to search for SmartWater-marked metals, provide UV detection equipment and raise awareness of the SmartWater brand. Our Investigators also carry out undercover integrity tests at scrap yards to check compliance with the Scrap Metal Dealer’s Act (2013).
